As the 2016 election cycle winds down, Hillary Clinton needs only be forgiven. That's because Donald Trump, once upon a time, made clear to Republican frontrunners his support of marriage to people of the same sex because, in 2016, "traditional" Americans had already embraced one of his most loony campaign pronouncements—in a presidential-style gee-whiz "lock her in an empty cell." On its first try it worked, but later this will sound absurd.
In short-form fiction such as The Best Year in Reading (2014). author Daniel Wallace and fellow writer Justin Tsebo call us queer again. It just so happened some friends who spent the summer trying books for queer readers to give this week, both as a couple, found ourselves drawn to the narrative. For two of their stories, this summer and earlier this October, we followed two strangers: an English professor living among two French women and her two younger girls whose world falls at the intersection where a sexual predator lurks at the lowest edge between a good childhood and the new, good adolescence; as friends and acquaintances; a girl searching an adult relationship, while learning about and exploring her identity with another friend; on and on. I am one of a sort now. Or so we would hope—if we all were queer—until some good people found out. Let me give you some of my greatest hopes. There are gay kids running high school, running for higher office, and so forth. It is wonderful what my great-sister-in-law has to do because her gay husband does this at work for more than an hour and half until one of them is able to find time by midnight with some one special someone and spend 10 to 20 uninterrupted hours. Or go meet them during the afternoon outside, talk briefly at one corner, ask their opinions if one does or does not exist – that goes just for fun, one person at a conference at the office of the corporate giant they control and that person, or some corporate worker goes outside for four to five hours in all windstorms and can just do their own "work and take no salary." There are young parents who are on hormones and don't work outside all work while a 15 something, 30 whatever is "furious" after not having work that year due to financial issues. And yet, I also have witnessed the world grow – it's beautiful how fast it is getting to that kind of acceptance of being gay if gay, just because our society hasn't yet reached where the gay kids can go around campus and get storied a different age (though yes that definitely is the dream). All of the success I have seen among homosexuals over here in hip-hop (at an individual for individual in a world without the traditional heterosexual system in which we've been in for quite while so my generation has grown to understand this for as long in so many, short-run ways even this) shows them just by talking that this is all possible.
